President's Quick Reflexes Save the Day at Independence Day Ceremony

Award ceremonies and other events are usually well-organized and decorated, but unexpected incidents can still occur. Such incidents happen in official ceremonies worldwide, including in the Maldives, albeit rarely.

However, the official ceremony held on July 26, 2024, to commemorate the 59th Independence Day of the Maldives was different. An incident that occurred during this ceremony caught the nation's attention, and for good reason. It was the first time the President's alertness was demonstrated in such an event.

During the ceremony at the Youth Center, as the President was presenting awards to long-serving individuals, one recipient accidentally dropped the badge of honor. To everyone's surprise, President Dr. Muizzu instantly caught the badge before it fell, without a moment's hesitation.

Social media was quickly flooded with praise for the President. Comments like "The President's alertness prevented the badge of honor from falling" were widespread. This reaction is understandable, as there have been instances in the past where awards were dropped and damaged during such ceremonies. While that's not necessarily a major issue, the focus here is on President Dr. Muizzu's alertness. He appears to be always prepared for any situation. Many believe that such alert leaders can successfully steer the nation forward.

In response to the incident, former renowned journalist and Maldivian orator Hoarafushi Mohamed Saleem wrote:

"Last night's scene on stage demonstrates that President Dr. Muizzu is an alert person. When the award recipient accidentally dropped the badge, the President caught it instantly, without a second's delay. This shows that he is a President who remains alert and attentive at every moment. That's how a President should be. Although I didn't vote for him, I've gained immense respect for his alertness! If he governs the country with such alertness, a successful term is not far away."

Many others have also commented, praising the President.

Numerous people have expressed that the President's name will be written in golden letters in history for the alertness he displayed in preventing the badge of honor from falling.
