66 Million Rufiyaa Received as Wealth Zakat by July This Year

According to the July statistics released by the state tax authority, Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), a total of 66.2 million rufiyaa has been received as wealth zakat up to July this year. This includes 5,446 dollars received in foreign currency.

This amount is 7.6 million rufiyaa more than the 58.6 million rufiyaa received during the same period last year.

The statistics show that the amount of wealth zakat received in July this year has doubled compared to July of last year.

While 7.3 million rufiyaa was received as wealth zakat in July last year, 15.4 million rufiyaa was received in July this year.

Previously, wealth zakat was paid to the Islamic Ministry. However, since 2016, the collection of wealth zakat has been transferred to MIRA.

Wealth zakat can be paid through MIRA's online platforms or by visiting MIRA in person.
