Mosque Donor and Businessman Hussein Shareef Dies

Hussain Shareef (Bolifushi Shareef), the owner of Ozen Reserve Bolifushi resort in K. Bolifushi, has suddenly passed away yesterday. Shareef was involved in numerous business ventures in addition to managing the Bolifushi Resort. He was also known for his generous contributions to many mosques in Malé in various ways. In response to Hussein Shareef's passing, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed his condolences to the family in a post on X (formerly Twitter) today. The President stated that Hussein Shareef was a benevolent individual who contributed to building mosques and providing assistance to the needy and various communities. "We join in mourning the passing of Hussein Shareef, extend our condolences to the family, and pray for patience. May the late Hussein Shareef rest in the eternal bliss of Paradise, in the vast mercy and blessings of Allah," the President said. Hussein Shareef, aged 64, was the main shareholder of Gateway Maldives, a company established in 1994. In addition to managing Bolifushi Resort, Hussein Shareef was involved in various business ventures. He was known for his support of many mosques in Malé in different ways. For instance, the Ibrahim Mosque located on Sosun Magu was built at Hussein Shareef's expense.
