Honeymoon Horror: Chinese Tourist Drowns in Maldives Snorkeling Tragedy

A romantic getaway turned tragic for a Chinese couple visiting the Maldives when a snorkeling excursion in K. Maafushi ended in disaster. The husband lost his life in a drowning incident, casting a shadow over what was meant to be a blissful honeymoon.

The unfortunate event, which occurred on the 7th of this month, had gone unreported by official channels until recently. When questioned by "Mihaaru," local police confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is currently underway.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the newlyweds embarked on their snorkeling adventure despite adverse weather conditions. They were part of a larger group of tourists under the supervision of a water sports service provider. Surprisingly, the excursion proceeded even though the guesthouse where the couple was staying had canceled similar activities due to the inclement weather.

The source revealed that the couple, first-time visitors to the Maldives, decided to join other tourists when assured by the water sports staff that conditions were suitable. Many participants, including those unable to swim, were equipped with life jackets before entering the water.
