President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives has emphasized the significance of China as a key partner in the nation's growth trajectory. Speaking at a ceremony commemorating China's National Day, Muizzu expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Maldivian leader highlighted the foundation of their relationship, citing mutual respect, trust, and non-interference in domestic affairs as core principles. He acknowledged China's substantial contributions to the Maldives' socio-economic progress and affirmed the intention to further solidify this partnership.

Looking ahead, President Muizzu envisioned expanded collaboration beyond infrastructure projects. He pointed to potential areas of cooperation including tourism, economic ventures, business initiatives, investments, and cultural exchanges.

Reflecting on past challenges, Muizzu noted China's consistent support in helping the Maldives overcome obstacles, a trend he expects to continue. The President specifically mentioned the Sinamalé bridge, constructed with Chinese assistance, as a symbol of the strong bond between the two nations.

In his address, Muizzu also praised China's global achievements, recognizing its emergence as a major economic power and its advancements in science, technology, and culture. This recognition underscores the Maldives' appreciation for China's growing influence on the world stage.
