The Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives has addressed recent rumors about monkeypox cases in the country. According to the agency, there have been no confirmed cases of monkeypox in the Maldives as of now. This statement comes in response to circulating claims about a potential case in Hulhumalé.
The Health Ministry has assured the public that preventive measures are in place to protect against the disease. Additionally, the World Health Organization has provided the Maldives with test kits to detect monkeypox.
While the disease, which originated in Africa, has been reported in some countries frequented by Maldivian travelers, it has not yet reached the Maldives. The World Health Organization has classified monkeypox as a public health concern.
The HPA continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to rely on official sources for accurate information regarding monkeypox in the Maldives.
