WAMCO to Introduce Gate Fees for Services in Three Cities

ree

The Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has announced plans to implement gate fees for its services in three key locations starting next month. The affected areas include Maafushi, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Thinadhoo City.

According to WAMCO officials, the corporation began providing services to registered users in these three areas last month. However, they have decided not to bill for the services rendered during that initial period. The first bills for the current month's services will be issued in the first week of the upcoming month.

The new fee structure varies depending on the location and type of user. For households registered for WAMCO services in all three areas, a monthly fee of 150 rufiyaa will be charged. Business entities in Maafushi will be charged 0.27 rufiyaa per liter, while those in Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi City will pay 0.16 rufiyaa per liter.

Additionally, WAMCO has set different rates for bulk waste collection. In Maafushi, users will be charged 500 rufiyaa per ton, whereas in Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi City, the rate is set at 108 rufiyaa per ton.

Government institutions across all three locations will be subject to a uniform gate fee of 2,660 rufiyaa, as stated by WAMCO representatives.

This new fee structure is part of WAMCO's efforts to streamline its services and ensure sustainable waste management practices in these growing urban areas. The corporation emphasizes that these changes are necessary to maintain and improve the quality of their services across the affected regions.
