A senior official involved in launching the service in Hinmafushi stated that they are currently in the process of recruiting staff, and it will take approximately 10 days to begin the actual waste collection operations.

WAMCO continues to provide services not only in Male' but also in various parts of the atolls. This year, services have also been launched in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi and GDh. Thinadhoo.

The government has inaugurated a national plan to provide a permanent solution to the waste management issues faced by inhabited islands in the Maldives, implementing an environmentally friendly and comprehensive approach from waste generation sources to disposal at regional waste management centers. This plan includes assessing the current state of waste management, identifying effective measures for proper waste management, and raising public awareness. While WAMCO provides waste management services in inhabited islands, the company is now also extending waste disposal services to resorts.
